Groundhog Day is neigh. Prepare yourself.

groundhog-day-clock.jpg“There is no way this winter is *ever* going to end as long as that groundhog keeps seeing his shadow. I don’t see any way out of it. He’s got to be stopped. And I have to stop him.”

“If you gotta shoot, aim high. I don’t wanna hit the groundhog.”

“Ned, I would love to stay here and talk with you… but I’m not going to. “

Home Theater for Dummies: Part One

How many times have you been watching your favorite DVD and had to continuously adjust the volume? Are you frustrated with not being able to clearly hear the dialogue over the sound track of the movie? You’re not alone. Relying totally on your TV speakers is the problem. Even though your TV may say “Surround Sound” or “Simulated Surround Sound”, its not surround sound! Why?? The answer is the movie you are watching is encoded with something called 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound or better. Quite simply, this means the DVD was designed with 6 discrete audio channels. The channels consist of front left and front right, center, surround left and surround right. The “.1” refers to the ultra low frequency bass channel for a sub-woofer. Check out the diagram below. The sub-woofer is not shown in the diagram but would typically be located in the upper left corner of the room.

Bruce’s Dip

It’s time to start planning those Super Bowl parties, so I have created another gourmet dish in the Bruce Sutter line of recipes that I call “Bruce’s Dip.” All of these ingredients can be found at your local grocer.

(1) 32oz. block of Velveeta Cheese

(1) 8oz. block of Philadelphia Cream Cheese

(2) 15oz. cans of Ray’s Chili

1 cup milk (not straight from the cow, Matt)

Mix ingredients in a slow-cooker and cook on high until the cheese is melted and then switch it to low. If you are in a hurry, you can also microwave the above ingredients until the cheese is melted and then transfer it to the low heat slow-cooker. Serve with warm tortilla chips or provide as the ‘glue’ in between the hard and soft shells of “Bruce’s Tacos” (double-decker tacos). Enjoy.
