If anything goes wrong, Desmond Hume will be my constant.

“As the helicopter that Desmond and Sayid are being transported on flies through a storm, Desmond begins having “perceptions” of another reality of himself. This reality shows Desmond ranked as a private in the military. He begins flashing back and forth between these realities, and the shifting causes Desmond to lose all memories of the Island and Sayid, whom is accompanying him on the helicopter. It is further revealed that the shifting perceptions that Desmond is experiencing are actually a form of time travel. Desmond reveals to Daniel Faraday that he believes the year is 1996. It is possible that Desmond can alter the past.” - from Wikipedia

The fifth installment of Lost: Season 4 is the berries.

“That’s what they do!”

I am not recommending Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I may have seen all the episodes so far, but I am not officially commenting on the quality of the show. The two-hour season finale is Monday. Thanks in advance.

Google talk

Google talk is great if you want a simple, free, pc2pc voice communications program. Both ends need a microphone and speakers. Most new laptops have a mic built-in, but the quality is sometimes not that great. External microphones are typically better and range in price from really cheap to really expensive. I have a $16 Altec Lansing headset that I use occasionally. I rarely do voice over internets calls, but this is a nice thing to have if you are low on cell minutes or are already sitting in front of your rig paying bills, uploading pictures to vistaprint, or playing SNES online with your joes.

SNES online gaming

So, you want to try the online gaming with your friends, but you’re not into the Halo or the WoW type gaming (i.e. your rig is too slow). Oh, and you love the classic, retro games systems such as the Super Nintendo. I hear ya’, I’m pickin’ up what your puttin’ down. Here’s what you need to do: Continue reading ‘SNES online gaming’

C.S. Lewis

charlotte-lewis.jpgYes, I love “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “Mere Christianity”, “The Screwtape Letters”, and even “Out of the Silent Planet”. But this post is not referring to the author of the aforementioned literature. I am actually referring to one Charlotte Staples Lewis (no relation to Clive Staples Lewis that we know of). She is one of the newest characters on LOST.

In it’s fourth season, Lost has left the confines of the island and introduced many new characters that are not from the island, although Miles looks eerily similar to Dr. Marvin Candle from the first season. One of the newest characters, part of a privately-funded task force bent on finding the island, is Charlotte Staples Lewis. I immediately recognized the similarity to the creator of Narnia’s name. Like always, we know little about her or where she came from. It is obvious that her light-blue eyes look nearly identical to Ben’s.

The dullness of the start of season 3 has been redeemed by the start of this season, IMO. I have enjoyed the first two eps of this season and look forward to the remaining 6. I will pass on the information I recently read that hints at an additional 6 episodes that may be produced for this season if the striking writers vote yes today.

Tornado strikes Union University

My friend Tim posted the following on his blog:

Now I know how Jack Bauer feels.

The past 24 hours have been the most intense day of my life. Many of you have read about the tornado that ripped through the Union University campus last night, reducing several dorm buildings to heaping piles of debris and trapping nine students in the process. (Timmy Brister has a good collection of resources, and The Jackson Sun is another place where you can find lots of info.)

To walk around the campus and survey the damage, there’s only one logical conclusion: that God’s providence is the only reason nobody was killed. It is staggering to see these buildings now and wonder how everyone got out alive. Thanks be to God for His kindness to us.

ICE - In Case of Emergency

emergency-small.jpgIt was recently brought to my attention by my friend Carrie that it is advisable to store a contact number with the name of ‘ICE’ in your cell phone or digital device. If you’re in a situation that you cannot communicate after an emergency, the hospital or other emergency personnel can easily find your “In Case of Emergency” contact person. So, go enter your emergency contact’s number in your cell phone and name it “ICE”.
