With gas at $3.69/gallon, have you decided to drive less, drive slower, or not drive perhaps? Was $3/gallon the tipping point, or are you waiting for the inevitable $4/gallon? Personally, we have been driving less since $3 and slower when gas hit $3.50. I have noticed a marked change in the speed people drive on the interstates; especially the larger trucks. My Subaru gets over 26 MPG, so I am not feeling the pinch as much as some people, but it still hurts.

I have purchased a new (well different) car to drive to work, and shuttle the kids to practice. My diesel truck was only getting about 15 mph @ $4.29/gal! My new 1984 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency diesel gets 27 mph! The car is ugly, and my wife won’t ride with me, but that’s an added bonus. If you see a maroon boat with a white stripe down the top don’t hide the kids, it’s just a redneck that doesn’t drive foreign cars saving money!
It amazes me how more domestic the foreign cars are than the domestic cars.
New cars yes! 1984 all American made!
I have definitely been driving less. Fewer jaunts to Marion and Carbondale, no long “road trips,” even fewer trips to Wal-Mart or Kroger. (I don’t like spending $40-plus to fill up my car!)
